NYFW Runway Recap Part 1...

hi everyone! sorry for the lack of posting this past week! NY has been pretty crazy since Fashion Week took over. i have so many pics to share with you from the Lucky FABB conference to WGACA's intimate presentation at the Soho Grand Hotel, but until i can organize and edit those photos, let's examine NYFW thus far.

today's post is a runway recap of the designers that have shown already (part 1). my favorite designers, my favorite looks, the top trends i'm seeing on the runways so far. enjoy xo

PRABAL GURUNG- prob my favorite of the shows thus far. sick.

CHRISTIAN SIRIANO- prob my 2nd favorite show. love how he played down the ball skirts with tshirts. effortlessly chic. trend alert: burnt orange and neon yellow are EVERYWHERE.

ADAM- everything wearable, gotta love that. trend alert: matching PRINTED suiting.

ALICE + OLIVIA- the epitome of affordable girly chic. i will own both the striped and floral pants from the 2nd row. wow.

ALTUZARRA- i'm a huge fan of this line, always edgy and cool. love the mix of floral with leather.

ALEXANDER WANG- he's my hero. his runway shows never really do it for me, as most of his matchy pieces are not wearable in public, but when you separate them, they are each unique and special and will make any outfit. like the leggings in the left pic below- amazing. pair with a chunky sweater in the mustard family to bring out the striping. can't wait for his stuff to hit the stores.

T by ALEXANDER WANG- equally awesome and pocket friendly. trend alert: sheer cutouts.

CUSHNIE et OCHS- another favorite show of mine. super feminine structure with a serious edge. the neck cutouts are insane. major trend alert. you are going to be seeing this in a few other shows for Spring 2012. oh, and there's the yellow again.

BCBG- every year they keep stepping up their game. love the neck cutouts and high slits.

DEREK LAM- again, effortlessly chic, no accessories needed. hello yellow. love the print on print blazer/blouse combo. he did striping on his pants last season and it was a huge hit- this white/navy pair is sick.

DONNA KARAN- maybe if i do a rain dance one of these outfits will appear in my closet so i can pretend to be a tribal princess. wow. i would wear any of these. totally different than what i'm seeing on the other runways and i love it. definitely a favorite show of mine so far this NYFW.

DVF- usually a favorite of mine, i wasn't that in love with this collection. personally, i'm not a huge fan of the retro look or pastels and her collection was chock full of it. these were my favorite looks from her show.

HELMUT LANG- god i love this line so much. that is all.

JENNI KAYNE- classic tailoring done right. i would wear all 3 of these looks.

JILL STUART- colorblocking is still going strong.

KIMBERLY OVITZ- more interesting neck cut outouts. LOVED this whole show. now i just wish i could afford it.

NICHOLAS K- edgy and easy to wear. this show is totally my style.

PETER SOM- big florals, neon feathers, what's there not to love. obsessed with the blue gown in the 2nd to last image. wow.

PREEN- gotta love a crop top. i should start hitting the gym now. damn it.

RACHEL ROY- i have my own pics from this presentation to share with you, but since everyone was bumping into eachother to get a clear shot, most of my pics have random strangers heads, hands and other body parts protruding into my pictures. anyhoo, all the models were wearing sick nude sandals- Rachel Roy has amazing accessories. there was a ton of drapey suiting, oriental inspired floral pieces and the last gown was totally draped and featured a darker color teal on the entire back side, it was to die for. the collection was incredibly beautiful and really wearable. hats off to RR. praying that she rips off her own collection for her less expensive line.

RAG & BONE- sick pants. need to own the navy/orange.

RACHEL ZOE- superstar. would wear everything. can't wait for it to hit stores.

REBECCA MINKOFF- handbag queen turned clothing goddess. she just knows what she's doing. edgy clothes with a youthful spirit. love the orange again (charcoal/orange is a fav color combo of mine), and you all know how i feel about crop tops.

REBECCA TAYLOR- neon yellow again, loving the roughness of the leather mixed with the flowy chiffon florals. proof that opposites attract.

THAKOON- runway heaven. absolutely amazing to look at.

VIVIENNE TAM- more orange! see the pattern here?? love the mixed prints.

YIGAL AZROUEL- organic perfection, no accessories needed.

ZAC POSEN- everything was gorgeous, these were just my favorites. the the top of the first dress reminds me so much of Julia Roberts red stunner in Pretty Woman. lord i hope someone pays full price of this and one day i can score it half off on Ebay. anyone else see the Oscar de la Renta influence in the red cocktail dress below?

so there you have it! part 1 of my runway recap. if a designer showed already and they aren't in this post, then i just wasn't that impressed. sorry? (with the exception of WGACA which I love- they did a special presentation that was not at Lincoln Center and so that will be in a later post).

what do you guys think of the Spring 2012 trends??

-colors: burnt orange & yellow
